"At the time I was terribly confused about very fundamental things, like marriage, relationships, chastity, true love, true heroism. I was desperately looking around
for just one example of a couple who did things the right way, got married, stayed married, and did not regret it. I clung to examples that I found in books, mostly old classics, and fairy tales. A couple people close to me could not understand why I loved fairy tales so much. I don't think I really could have explained it to them, at the time. Then I found the book [The Shadow of the Bear] in the house of an acquaintence, and asked them to borrow it. In a time of my life when I was rather afraid of boys and men, I read your tale of the two young men, sleuthing the streets of New York City, risking their lives to bring the man who murdered a priest to justice. Bear and Fish were young, they were men, but they were strong and also kind. They were heroic. It was awesome."
-- Maria F., 9/6/09
"I don't have any idea of what, if anything, is "out there" in this category - - - but this is VERY good.
The only thing I know to compare it with are Madeline L'Engle's Austin Family series - because there is a solid moral core with realistic characters who have to make tough choices." -- Robert Trexler, C.S. Lewis Society, New York
"About a year ago, I was doubting even the most basic things, such as the Lord. I read your books... and after that, everything seemed to slowly even out, and now my faith is stronger than it has ever been. So thank you so much for these books - they've touched me and helped guide me in so many ways. Thank you so so so much....Your books are my all-time favorites...THANKS!!!" - Chelsea, 6/11/08 (full quote)
"I think that there needs to be more books like yours for teens because it shows that there are people out there who aren't afraid to share the faith, letting teens know that it's cool to have a relationship with the Lord. I think that's one of the reasons why so many people love your books, because it's an alternative to all the other books out there and it shows that you can love your faith, have a relationship with the Lord and still have fun and enjoy life." -- -- Anna D., 16.

"The
things I believed most then, the things I believe most now, are the things called
fairy tales." - G.K. Chesterton ("The Ethics of Elfland," Orthodoxy)
"If
you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want
them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales." - Albert
Einstein
"The
more truly we can see life as a fairytale, the more clearly the tale resolves
itself into a war with the Dragon who is wasting fairyland." -
G.K. Chesterton

Have you ever felt that there was something going on in life that not everyone was aware of?...As though there’s a story going on that everyone is a part of, but not everybody knows about—a sort of drama, a battle between what’s peripheral and what’s really important. As though the people you meet aren’t just their plain, prosaic selves, but are actually princes and princesses, gods and goddesses, fairies, gypsies, shepherds, all sorts of fantastic creatures who’ve chosen to hide their real shape...Or have forgotten who they really are.
Have you ever thought that?

Dear Regina,
I just wanted to tell you that I got your fifth book, Alex O'Donnell and the 40 CyberThieves for Easter. I read it all in one day! It was absolutely great! You have a great gift and talent in writing. I wanted to thank you for writing such great, solid Catholic novels! One thing that I particularly love about your books are the guy heros. I love how you make them such strong, Godly, and truly masculine figures! We need that in our culture today. Your books are a great inspiration for me to deepen my Catholic Faith and my relationship with God. Thank you so much for these books!
God bless you,
Marlee Klopfer

Dear
Ms. Doman,
I wanted to take the time to say that I love this book! [The
Shadow of the Bear] I got it for my birthday, from
my mom who said she heard great things about it. I haven't
been interested in fairy tales before, but I am now!
The book was captivating and the plot-line was suspenseful. I
also loved the references to literature and poetry. I'm quite
interested to start reading some GK Chesterton on my own! I have
to admit that at first, I didn't really like Bear, but after
he was developed as a character, I saw how good he was for Blanche.
I especially liked how this book was grounded in good morals.
The characters are all good examples to follow. In this day, there
are lots of books out there that are just full of trash. They
may be interesting, but they aren't grounded in good example.
This book gave both - it was interesting, and grounded in Catholic
Faith. I'm a Catholic and am glad to have found a book series
to turn to. :) I was given the sequel, Black As Night,
the other day and started reading it today! I'm very excited
and am already hooked. I can't wait to read the others! I
know that any books in this series will find a place on my shelf.
Thank you!!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth, 15
I
LUV your books

hugs & kisses from me to you <3

COMING EVENTS
FOR 2012
WHAT: Homeschool
Connections Online Conference
WHEN: DATE CHANGE! Instead of February
2, 2012, it is now Thursday, January 26, 2012
at 8pm EST.
WHERE: Online
WHY: Regina
will be giving a talk on fiction writing: Which Comes first,
the Plot or the Character?
Regina says: This classic connudrum was solved by
the playwright Lajos Egri, and is the method still employed by Hollywood
screenwriters today. With an overview of both story structure and
character building, this talk particularly explores the overlooked
component that Egri used to tie both together in a satisfying whole.
